Pre-Requisite

You must have at least 5 years of professional experience in the information security field to apply for CISM certification.
Substitutions and waivers may be obtained for a maximum of 2-years as follows:
Two Years:
1. CISA or CISSP certification in good standing
2. Post-graduate degree in information security or a related field (e.g., business administration, information systems, information assurance)
One Year:
1. One full year of information systems management experience.
2. One full year of general security management experience.
3. Skill-based security certifications (e.g., SANS Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), CompTIA Security +, Disaster Recovery Institute Certified Business).
4. Continuity Professional (CBCP), ESL IT Security Manager).
